Nature and Nurture

Traces left by artists’ creation based on their own knowledge and personalty were closely related to Nurture elements naturally. With their unique way of thinking, bouncing between sense and sensitivity, more refined purity is hence obtained. Their subjective imagination and interpretation contribute to what their works looks like today. In whatever approach of presentation they may take, their works has become their life ritual.

What is precious about the essence of things is often communicated through media of art; it is the strength derived from artists’ self-speculation after they have observed all creatures. The primitive states and most impressive postures ever recorded, of land, people, custom and each social dimension, have become the creation language for recreation. With mutual balance between patchwork and painting, Lin Jaw-Tsang composes the reality that is both free and alienated, by breaking the original order and norms of existence and environment. He further affirms the unchangeable feeling that is both earnest and true in ever changing flow of all things. Lin Wei-Min in the process of juxtaposition fuses scenarios, with precision and liberty. The memory in a flash betrays unwavering firmness, communicating by stacking up with brush after brush, the rhythm he has longed for.

Harmony with the law of Nature is a necessary daily lesson. Insight accumulated in the process of time is transformed to a step that artists must take for a break-through. From the beginning LiúYung-Jen has persisted the Concept of Breathing in his creation; shapes and colors working within themselves, echo in concert with the contradiction found between passion and loneliness. The depth of Nurture syncs with the breadth of Nature; the height of his devotion is revealed while his personal system is being established. Lu I-Chung narrates his reflection on the times through his works without reservation. Treating with dignity, he provides finite essence and creates infinite value. The path of humility and simplicity leads to the beginning of greatness; each brush proves that what must ultimately return to the works, is his heart. The implicitness in Po Ying-Ping’s works in some degree brings into shape the philosophical spatial situation. A clean and familiar trace creates a constant dialogue between oil paint and sculpture, preserving elegantly and modestly what life ought to be.

It is Nature, but also Nurture. At the invitation of the Curator LiúYung-Jen, five artists Po Ying-Ping, Lu I-Chung, Lin Jaw-Tsang, LiúYung-Jen, and Lin Wei-Min write down the breath of things in the now and endow them with new spiritual values.
